John Paul “Polo” Kirkland nació y se crió en la escénica área oeste de Puerto Rico el 9 de mayo de 1990. Su poesía habita una tierra de bellezas extremas, perturbada por el silencio brutal del discurso colonial, toca fibras éticas, históricas y filosóficas mediantes visiones, la introspección, la sátira y un llamado a un mundo surreal, extendiéndose a través de sus intimidades comunes.

Estudió y se graduó de Literatura Comparada en la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez. Actualmente, trabaja como maestro de idiomas y tutor.

John Paul “Polo” Kirkland was born and raised on the scenic west coast of Puerto Rico on May 9, 1990. Dwelling in a land of extreme beauties, shaken by the rough silence of colonial discourse, his poetry touches ethical, historical and philosophical fibers through visions, introspection, satire, and an appeal to a surreal world, extending into its common intimacies.

He studied and graduated with a degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez campus. Currently, he works as a language teacher and tutor.

Tyler Vile is a writer, performer, and activist from Baltimore, MD whose novel-in-verse, Never Coming Home, is available on Topside Press. She is a member of the Baltimore Transgender Alliance leadership team and the vocalist in a punk band called Anti-Androgen. Her interactive poetry zine, Hassidic Witch Murderer is available on her website, tylervile.wordpress.com. She aspires to one day become the world’s greatest transsexual yenta.

She earned an MFA from the University of Texas El Paso’s Bilingual Creative Writing Program and taught at El Paso Community College and the University of Texas, El Paso.

Gabriel Ojeda-Sague is Miami <-> Philly, child of Cuban exiles and Puerto Ricans. His first collection, Oil and Candle (Timeless Infinite Light, March 2016), is a set of writings on Santeria, war, and the precarity of Latino-American lives. He is also the author of 4 chapbooks, most recently Where Everything is in Halves, poems against death through the Legend of Zelda, and ‘Yo’ Quiere Decir Sunburn, poems on anxious bilingualism. He has recently completed a manuscript on Jazzercise. 

Jamie Berrout is a Mexican trans woman writer, translator, and editor at the Trans Women Writers Collective. Her first novel is Otros valles (2014). Her books are available to trans women at no cost through her blog desdeotromar.tumblr.com.

Nikki Wallschlaeger’s work has been featured or is forthcoming in P-Queue, The Brooklyn Rail, LIT,  The Journal Petra, Apogee, Jubilat & others. She is the author of the full-length collection Houses (Horseless Press 2015)  as well as the graphic chapbook I Hate Telling You How I Really Feel from Bloof Books (2016). Her second full length collection of poetry, Crawlspace, is forthcoming from Bloof Books in 2017.

RE Katz is a genderqueer glitch performer. They work as a Teaching Artist with at-risk kids in the Buffalo school system. They have made three chapbooks: Any Berry You Like (iO Books, 2014), an Author Collection (Awst Press, 2015), and Pony at the Super (Horse Less Press, 2015). 

Elliott Sky Case is an LA native based in San Jose. Their work has appeared in Voicemail Poems, as well as two self-released zines, get home safe and dog star. Elliott is a Virgo sun/Libra moon/Scorpio rising and married to the sunset.

Laura Theobald is a poet currently living in New Orleans. Her full length poetry collection is “What My Hair Says About You” from the Montreal-based small press publisher Metatron (2016). Her chapbooks are “Edna Poems” (Lame House, 2016), “The Best Thing Ever” (Boost House, 2015), and “eraser poems” (H-NGM-N, 2014). She completed her MFA in poetry from LSU in 2016, and has served as an editor and book designer for a number of small press publishers. She is currently a book designer for BOAAT and a freelance book designer. Her recent poems have appeared in Sink Review, Hobart, Pinwheel, Witch Craft Magazine, The Atlas Review, Everyday Genius, and the Black Warrior Review among others.
